Description
The complete Apostle Islands sea cave experience. The Meyers Beach Full Tour follows the entire mainland cave system, from the dramatic arches near the launch all the way to the less visited western caves where commercial boat tours rarely reach. This is the trip for paddlers who came to see all of it.
The route covers approximately ten miles along the most photographed shoreline in the National Lakeshore. We paddle the complete cliff line, slip into the deeper interior chambers, and continue past the typical turnaround point to a series of quieter formations at the western end of the system. Midway through, we beach the kayaks on a stretch of secluded shoreline for a relaxed lunch, time to swim if the water is right, and a chance to look back at the cliff line you just paddled.
What makes the full tour special is the sheer time spent inside the caves. We move at a pace that lets you actually settle into each chamber instead of rushing to the next one. By the end of the day you will have paddled under arches, drifted through cathedral scale interior rooms, and watched the afternoon light shift through the sandstone in ways that no shorter tour can match.
